What gets checked
License status
Active, suspended, expired, or revoked — verified in real time before any write.
Prescriber name match
The name on the fax is verified against the college register entry.
Registration number
Validated against the college record where present on the prescription.
What happens on a failed check
The verification result is recorded in the audit trail for every prescription, whether it passed or failed. This is available for regulatory review on request.
Not a replacement for pharmacist judgment
Prescriber license verification is an automated safeguard, not a substitute for clinical review. A passing verification means the license is active — it does not validate the clinical appropriateness of the prescription. Your pharmacists retain full clinical oversight.
